When I first read about the Out Campaign, I thought it was a great idea. I’m all for atheists being open about their lack of belief, and I like the logo, so I figured a t-shirt was probably in my future. Unfortunately, when I got to the online store, what did I see? a sodding great “richarddawkins.net” url across the front of them. That’s not a statement, it’s an advertisement, and I’m no-one’s walking billboard. Not even Richard Dawkins’.

I followed the cafépress link from Dawkin’s post announcing the Out campaign, and found this logo.

I like the cryptic, “magic-eye” aspect of the design, which makes you feel superior when you manage to make out what it says. In fact I like it so much I’m thinking of getting a tattoo..

I like that. If the T-shirt came in black, I’d certainly wear it. Although I’m a bit concerned that it’s not exactly “out” when you have to be smart to figure it out. Also it sort of implies that Atheism is in the gaps, which is not the message I want to convey. :)
