It pains me to have to do this; xkcd is so often a bastion of sense and logic. But I am called upon to root out muddles thinking and superstition wherever I see it and, my friends, I see it on xkcd. If it were a simple mistake, I could forgive it, but Randall has persisted in his misinformation, even revelled in it.
He leaves me no choice.

I can’t disagree with either of you if only because of the varying degrees of taste in oranges and apples.
Bananas are quite easy – except occasionally you get that one that JUST WON’T PEEL, which brings the average way down
Pomegranates are quite tasty for the first couple of seconds of chewing after that you find yourself with a mouth of seeds.
This map fails to include another tasty fruit the olive which though burdened by a seed can easily be mechanically de-seeded for optimal consumption pleasure.
